All of the above would make ideal summer reading, but this last one I really would like to know more about - luckily, it's still available.

i always judge a book by its cover, and these are saying READ ME!! i just look vintage book jackets...

The Rivet in Grandfather's Neck is available in its entirety at Google Books.

Great! I'm there...

There's lots of Bangs at Gutenberg:

Quite a noted comic writer, I believe. "His Water Ghost of Harrowby Hall" often turns up in ghost story collections.

"A Houseboat on the Styx" is a very entertaining and bizarre piece of fiction - about a gentlemen's club in the afterlife where all the great thinkers of history reside and bore each other relentlessly. Sherlock Holmes crops up too, or perhaps that was the sequel, determined to cheat death and return to life following his plunge from the Reichenbach Falls (this written before Doyle succumbed to the demands of readers and resurrected his creation.)
